Celebrating a Second Year as Your Castle Rock Emergency Vet Hospital

Did you know that Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies owner, Dr. Megan Rector, spent years doing challenging work and building the experience needed to run an emergency veterinary hospital? After those long years of learning what was needed, Dr. Rector opened Castle Rock’s only veterinary hospital that is open around-the-clock, two years ago this month.

Happy 2nd Anniversary to Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies! Read on for a little about the history of your emergency and specialty veterinary hospital, open 24/7/365 in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Dr. Rector recognized that there was both a community need and a market gap for providing 24-hour emergency veterinary services in Castle Rock. People used to have to make emergency trips to Denver or Parker to find after-hours emergency veterinary care for their pets. That meant long drives and extra stress for pets and their people who needed fast access to emergency care near their homes.

Dr. Rector started Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies as an option for emergency and specialty vet services for people and their pets in the Castle Rock community, available around the clock and quickly added a wide range of additional specialty care options that many pets also need.

She also recognized that it was possible to reduce stress and improve vet visits by creating a calming and therapeutic environment. With more than 10,000 square feet of space, the comfortable and welcoming Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies veterinary hospital boasts eight exam rooms, three surgery suites, a critical care area, a treatment area, and areas for patients comprised mostly of dogs and cats.

The Castle Rock vet hospital also contains a complete laboratory, ultrasound machine, and radiology equipment, so that bloodwork and diagnostic imaging tests can quickly happen in-house. Dr. Rector employs a range of board-certified specialists who are now accepting pet patients for cardiology, internal medicine, oncology, surgery, and even pet acupuncture treatments.

The Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies team includes more than 25 employees, including board-certified veterinarians and experienced emergency room (ER) veterinarians. The large team allows for highly-customized patient care and plans that can be aligned with primary veterinary care to serve every pet patient that comes to the hospital.

Dr. Rector also employs an important team of supporting front desk staff and veterinary technicians, led by Hospital Administrator Tammi Morrison. These professionals ensure that pets and their people receive VIP treatment during visits, with separate areas and entrances for cats and dogs help to ensure comfort. Pet parents are also treated like the special guests they are, with access to a calm and attractive seating area decorated with comfortable chairs, an ambient fireplace, and televisions. (NOTE: the COVID pandemic has at least temporarily impacted the hospital’s intake procedures. Please stay up-to-date with the vet hospital’s procedures and important COVID-19 information about protecting pets and their people. LEARN MORE)

Dr. Rector and her team appreciate that you, your primary veterinarian, and your pets now recognize Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies as your hometown emergency and specialty veterinary choice in Castle Rock and beyond. They continue to transform the typical high-stress emergency vet visit into something more therapeutic and healing for pets and their people, like you.

Happy 2nd Anniversary to the team at this remarkable pet hospital!
